"How do I put this?"

One group had a bit of trouble putting into words the theme of one of their story ideas. It involved the often-tricky topics of race and class, and their apprehension was visible.

Hear what: Don't be afraid to present or tackle controversial or sensitive topics.

Just understand that you need to put your very best foot forward when writing such stories, and that you need to be as objective as possible. Don't go into it with preconceived notions; as a reporter, you're beholden to no institution but that of the truth.

Note the perceptions, but don't be guided by them. Pursue the facts.
